I have been meaning to write about this topic for a while now, but now as the last season of Secret Diary of a Call Girl comes to an end, it seems like now is the time to do it.

Even though the 4th, and the last season was not as good as some of the previous ones, I can still appreciate the fact that escorting has been brought to much wider mainstream audience than ever before.

Great thing about Belle is, that the show is not your typical story of human trafficking and abuse like it is portrayed in 99% of the media. Rather, it is a story about making your own choices in life, even if other people do not approve of it.

But how realistic is the Belle story really? Seen from another escorts ( even if I am a gay escort ) perspective I have mixed feelings about it- on one hand it is not supposed to be realistic- it is TV, but on the other, lot of people probably do think that is how escorts actually work.

OK, so let me give you some insight into what I think is realistic in the show and what is not-

Belle preparing herself for 2 hours before each appointment, having her hair done and then buying some specialist equipment for each client

Not very realistic. Most girls have several clients a day, so there is no way they would have time to go through all the beauty rituals as often as she does. And unless the client is bringing his own toys I doubt if any girl would make such an effort for anyone.

Realistic, there are many girls that make much more than that. Lot of girls make much less as well.

Not very realistic. As Belle is in the mid range of the escort market, she would not get such personalized service. Most of the agencies are run by men, and the communication is kept to a bare minimum, just enough exchange the clients details and charge commissions- that is it. Not even sure if these Heidi Fleiss type madams exist any more- I am sure there are some, but those would be for girls charging 10 K a pop and not for girls that charge per hour.

I have never worked for an agency myself so I am afraid I can’t advise you on any of them. Why I have never worked for them myself, is the fact of someone else having all my contacts, photos etc that I have no control over. The idea that someone else tells you which clients you can/can not meet freaks me out as well. Agencies are often upfront about the fact that you have to take every client that comes in the door, but I don’t do that. If I don’t like the guy (either he is just rude, smelly or whatever, I kick him out) with agencies’ clients you usually cant do that.

As far as the rich clients go this is another (of many) myths I have to disappoint you with. Rich client does not = lot of cash. To be honest, none of the millionaires I have ever met has ever given me even a tip. So if you think that just because the guy lives in a 10£M townhouse he is going to pay you really well, think again. You are much likely to get big tips from professional guys that work in the city or just normal guys you meet most of the time anyways. The generosity of the client comes definitely down to the clients personality NOT their size of the wallet. Oh and maybe there is a reason why those guys are rich in the first place, they just don’t share….. :P

Hmm not sure what you mean, escorting is not about being unique- you need to be attractive to lot of guys in order to make money.

Gay escorting is different from female escorting where the demand for niche service could be charged higher. Sure you will be able to find some clients that will pay more for a special scenario/look, but in gay world you need to appeal to many. The market is just not big enough.

Sounds like you want to make money, rather than do escorting, so if I were you I would put profiles in non-escort sites, saying that you are looking for a rich older guy to take care of you. I am sure you can find someone. If you wanna go to escorting there is no special way to attract high paying clients- they all come from the same sources (internet, magz, etc) and they will compare you to all the other guys. You can try putting your fees up at first, but in my experience you will simply loose out on business…But try and see!

How to become an escort? Part 2

In my previous post about becoming a male escort I brought out some uncomfortable facts about this business, in this one I will give you some tips what to do next once you are sure there is demand for your service.

Ok so it is little bit more difficult than you initially thought, but is it totally hopeless then? My answer would be “No, if you know what you are doing.”

I think the most important thing you need to do is to realize that if you want to make some serious money in escorting, you need to take it seriously- you need to be as committed to it as if it would be your full time job. This is not a well paid hobby, it is a job. This means that you can’t expect to do it only when it is convenient for you, or that you treat your clients like shit (cause they wont come back). This means that often you will find clients calling at time when you don’t feel like picking up your phone, but you still have to. You have to be ready pretty much all the time, middle of the movie, with a headache, in the bar with friends etc.

As in any business you need have a plan- what is your goal in escorting? What do you want to get out of it? If it is just to have few extra quid when you are studying then you can take it easy. If you want to make a living off from it, you need to put little more though to it.

When you are just getting into business it is probably hard to estimate how much you are going to make. I think I have a pretty good understanding of how much guys are making in this business and if you hear someone bragging ” Oh wow I made 2K this weekend” you need to take it with pinch of salt (or a lot of it). While you can have a good weekend and this is not impossible, it is rare. And it most certainly wont happen to him every week. No matter how gorgeous he is. Most weeks are much less glamorous than that. My point to all of this- expect to make rather less than more, this way you can keep your costs under control and not spend the money you don’t have.

So what would be the first step- finding a flat I suppose. 2 tips- it has to be close to the tube, private entrance ( preferably no neighbors or very few). Nowhere outside zone 1. Best location is probably around Soho or Covent Garden but it is also the most expensive option. If your goal is to save and not splash most of your income to a fancy flat then I would also consider options outside Westminster.

You will make roughly 50-60 % of your income from in calls so if you are serious about making money you can not rely only on out calls. And for the clients to come back it needs to be close to the tube and be private.

OK, now you have a flat, what next? Advertising I suppose. Yes this where things get tricky. I am not going to endorse all of them, because different channels work for different guys, but I always advise guys to rotate their ads, because different men look at different channels. Few I have been advertising with are Gaydar, BoysofLondon, Rentboy and GayRomeo. And when you meet a client always ask them where did they see your add, so you will know what works and what doesn’t. This way you don’t waste you hard earned cash on channels that don’t bring you any business, or bring you just enough that you can pay for your add.

Make a website- I only wish I would have done it earlier myself. It is the best way to attract business online and “close the sale” so to speak. With so many guys out there, how do you make yourself stand out? Website is a great way to do that- you can write more about you, give an idea to people what kind of guy you are, create trust between you and your potential client. My website/s have been the single reason why I have had lots of bookings from abroad for instance and when I travel outside London, I can let them know in advance. If you are a client from another country you want to make sure the guy that you are going to ask to come over knows what he is doing , is trustworthy and does not disappear after they have given you the plane tickets, so your website will be a great way to build that trust.

OK so now you have your flat, ads in place, website to promote and ready to go. What next? I guess my final advice would be to be realistic on how long you are able to do this (read more about escorts career choice here) be careful with your dosh and keep away from drugs .Money is much easier to spend than make, and drugs are sure way to burn all your cash you will make and more.
